Registration conditions

Who may register?
Any natural person (of full age) and any organisation, with no residence requirement in Austria.
Length
1 to 63 characters, also for .co.at and .or.at (for umlauts the ACE form counts).
Characters
a–z, 0–9, hyphen and IDN characters. One- and two-character names without a hyphen.
Technology
At least 2, at most 8 name servers.
Registrant data
Name or company name with legal form, address (no PO box), phone and e-mail. nic.at checks the details.
Transfer
With an Authinfo: the current registrar must hand it over to the holder, even if invoices are outstanding. The new registrar uses it to start the transfer. Alternatively, the new registrar requests a confirmation token from nic.at, which is e-mailed to the holder and is valid for 21 days. A transfer cancels a termination at expiry.
