Registration conditions

Who may register?
Any natural or legal person; residence in Germany is not required. Co-ownership is permitted.
Length
1 to 63 characters (for umlauts the ACE form counts).
Characters
a–z, 0–9 and hyphen, plus the special characters permitted by DENIC such as ä, ö, ü and ß. No hyphen at the beginning or end and not in positions 3 and 4.
Registrant data
Full name or company name with legal form, street address (no PO box), e-mail and phone. DENIC checks accuracy under the BSI Act and may request proof.
Transfer
With an AuthInfo: at the holder's request, the current provider creates it, sends it encrypted to DENIC and passes it on to the holder. The new provider submits the transfer request with it; if it matches, the domain moves immediately. If the current provider is not active, DENIC sends the AuthInfo by registered mail to the holder's address. The AuthInfo expires after 30 days.
